It was a warm, dark April night. Marigold examined the key and stuck it into the door. She smiled when their was no alarm. The captains, of course, had keys and she was borrowing Finnius'. She smiled to Elsa and the two girls grabbed two brooms.
"I can't believe we're doing this!"Elsa said, kicking off. Marigold shushed her and looked around. Elsa had sneakingly got the key off Finnius and no doubt he would noticed that it was missing. They had maybe ten minutes. Marigold kicked off from the ground and hovered by Elsa's height.
"Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the first ever cross country flying race in Hogwarts history! Representing Ravenclaw is Marigold Belet and representing Hufflepuff is the lovely Elsa Nedler!"Elsa announced, making fake applause noises. Marigold rolled her eyes and stuck her tongue out at her.
Elsa and Marigold had this idea in Templar. They needed an extra shot of adrenaline like they needed a hole in the head, so they agreed to race. They mapped out a race course; they were to: fly out of the Pitch, over The Forbidden Forest, go an extra 100 feet in the air, fall into a free fall over the lake, catch their broom before they hit the water, and then return to the Pitch. A simple track with just enough danger to keep the girls excited. They didn't think that they would be doing it at night though. But, there was no way they would be allowed to do this during the day.
Elsa flew over to the announcer's tower and hung up two hankies, one blue, one yellow. Marigold followed and looked around. She had butterflies in her stomach but she was feeling particularity brave tonight, which was rare for her.
"If you want to back out, I understand."she said to Elsa. Elsa stuck her tongue out at Marigold and Marigold laughed. They were about to start when the doors to the Pitch opened. Marigold smiled at who it was.
"Want to race?"she whisper-shouted to them.
(OOC: Seriously though, cross country flying sounds amazing.)
